What to include in an enquiry

A clear enquiry turns around faster and priced more accurately. Please include the following seven items in the email so that a written quotation can be issued without a second round of questions. First, the specification and grade of the material, written out in full rather than abbreviated; for example Ordinary Portland Cement 53 grade under IS 12269, or Fe 500 D TMT bar in 16 millimetre diameter under IS 1786. Second, the preferred brand if the consultant or contractor has specified one; otherwise a statement that any BIS-licensed brand is acceptable. Third, the quantity in the unit appropriate to the material, whether that is bags, pieces, running metres, metric tonnes or cubic metres. Fourth, the delivery pincode and any site access notes, such as a narrow approach road, a low entrance gate, a basement delivery requirement or the availability of unloading labour. Fifth, the required-by date, including whether a partial despatch is acceptable if the full quantity cannot be delivered on the target day. Sixth, the on-site contact name and mobile number that the driver will reach on approach. Seventh, the GSTIN or the buyer category, whether institutional, builder, contractor or individual, so that the invoice is raised with the correct GST treatment.

Payment, logistics and what we do not do

Payment is accepted by bank transfer to the firm account; details are provided on the proforma invoice. Cash payments are not accepted for institutional orders and are discouraged generally, in line with statutory thresholds. Cheque payments are accepted subject to realisation before despatch. Logistics for part-load consignments typically moves by eight and twelve tonne trucks; full loads move by sixteen or twenty-five tonne trucks. The yard does not undertake installation, contracting or project execution; it is a materials supplier only. The yard does not supply counterfeit or grey-market product under any circumstance. The yard does not quote for materials it does not stock or cannot source from an authorised distributor of the manufacturer.
